PerformancesSpringfield Ballet produces three ballets each season, including Springfield’s production of The Nutcracker each December. The Ballet also performs a mainstage production each spring. Past repertoire includes, Sylph Dreams and Moonscapes, Romeo and Juliet, Coppelia, The Sleeping Beauty, La Fille Mal Gardee, La Bayadere, Cinderella, Swan Lake, Act II, Pas de Quatre, and The Firebird, as well as several original contemporary ballets. Through community support and grants, Springfield Ballet is able to bring in professional guest artists and companies to enhance their performances.
Springfield Ballet also produces a children’s series production each year. These productions are intended for the youngest of performers and audiences. They are age appropriate, creative, and provide a wonderful opportunity for the entire family to experience the performing arts. Past children’s series productions include Peter Rabbit, Hansel and Gretel, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, The Steadfast Tin Soldier, Frosty the Snowman, Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer, The Tortoise and the Hare, Peter and the Wolf, The Little Red Hen, Gingerbread Boy, Little Red Riding Hood, The Night Before Christmas, The Princess and the Pea, and Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
All productions are cast by audition only and all auditions are open to the entire community. All mainstage and children’s series productions are performed at the historic Landers Theatre.
Springfield Ballet performs at community events and by invitation throughout Springfield and Southwest Missouri. Past performances include Cider Days, ArtsFest, Junior League’s Celebrate the Season and Oscar Night America, First Friday Art Walk, and numerous performances at public schools in and around Springfield. Springfield Ballet has performed in Ava, Stockton, West Plains, Osage Beach, and many other communities throughout Southwest Missouri.
