School Overview

Springfield Ballet School was established in 1976 and consists today as a comprehensive training program for area dancers to build a strong foundation in classical dance. Our highly skilled, professional faculty offer classes in ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, modern and Pilates.  Classes are offered at all skill levels to individuals ages three through adult. Springfield Ballet School classes are not recital or competition driven. Valuable classroom time is spent learning and strengthening dancers’ technique rather than practicing a routine. Students interested in performing may audition for Springfield Ballet productions held in the fall and spring each year.

Beginning as early as age three, children may be enrolled in our Creative Movement dance classes. Creative Movement I is an educational and fun class which introduces your child to dance emphasizing musical awareness, spatial awareness, group interaction, and listening skills. Creative Movement II (ages 4-5) is a more in depth exploration of the dance concepts with additional emphasis on posture and coordination. Pre-Ballet (ages 5-6) is a prelude to formal ballet training and focuses on very basic ballet movements that deal with gross and fine motor skills, creative expression, and musical appreciation. Classical ballet training begins with Ballet I (ages 6-7) and continues with Ballet II, Ballet III, Ballet IV, Intermediate Ballet and Pointe, and Advanced Ballet and Pointe. For older beginner to intermediate students, Teen/Adult Ballet (ages 12 and up) is an excellent option, and beginner tap and jazz (ages 7 and up), intermediate/advanced jazz and modern, and Pilates mat classes (ages 11-adult) are also offered.
